One of them is Style I (Inspiring), which characterizes energetic, communicative people focused on relationships with others.

People with a dominant I style are often perceived as inspiring, outgoing, and enthusiastic. They enjoy working with people and easily build relationships in both their personal and professional lives.

In this article, you will learn:

What are the characteristics of Style I

What are the strengths of people with this style?

What challenges might arise

how to communicate with people with style I

What is the I style in the DISC model

Style I means Influence and orientation on relationships with people. Individuals with a high score in this style draw energy from interactions with others and are often the life of the party.

Its mode of operation can be described as:

energetic

open

enthusiastic

relationship-oriented

People with Style I often motivate others with their energy and positive attitude.

Key features of style I

People with Style I have several distinct characteristics that set them apart in their relationships with others.

Communicativeness

Type I individuals find it very easy to strike up conversations and enjoy sharing their ideas. They feel comfortable in social situations. They build rapport with others, even complete strangers, very easily. They enjoy being in large groups of people and, thanks to their openness and communication skills, build a network of relationships that is their greatest support.

Enthusiasm

Style and often bring positive energy and optimism to the team. These individuals can inspire others to act. They like new challenges, projects, and get started very quickly. You could say that almost anything inspires them. They very often infect others with their enthusiasm.

Ease of building relationships

Thanks to their openness, people with the I style quickly win over others. They are very good at building networks and networking. They like people, and people who interact with them feel it, which is why they are happy to stay in touch and support them if needed.

Creativity

Type I individuals often have many ideas and enjoy seeking new solutions. Everything new they learn opens up new possibilities in their imagination. They are very often the authors of completely non-standard solutions that may seem crazy in the eyes of others. However, thanks to the open-mindedness and positive attitude of Type I individuals, even the most unusual solutions have a chance to become reality.

Strengths of style I

Style I has many advantages that make people with this profile very valuable in teams and organizations.

Building relationships

Individuals with Style I excel at building relationships with clients, colleagues, and business partners. They are great at conferences, trade shows, and networking events. They build a network of lasting business relationships based on the very good impression they make on others.

Motivating Others

Energy and enthusiasm can motivate a team to action. An optimistic attitude and excitement about new projects often rub off on others, causing even the most reserved individuals to start believing that the projects are achievable.

Communication

Style and they adapt very well to roles requiring human interaction, such as sales or marketing. These individuals love talking to people, which makes them excel in companies where sales require building relationships with clients. They have many creative ideas and an open mind, which makes their marketing efforts characterized by freshness and hitting the needs of target groups.

Positive attitude

These individuals often bring a good atmosphere to the team and help build positive relationships. Their cheerful disposition and the smile that is almost always on their face brighten the day not only for them but for everyone around them. They are positively oriented towards both new ideas and other people, which gives

Style Challenges I

Like other DISC styles, the I style also has its challenges. In my opinion, our greatest asset as humans is knowing our own weaknesses and being able to manage them. How our weaknesses manifest largely depends on our emotional intelligence. I will dedicate a separate article to this topic.

Difficulty focusing on details and finishing tasks.

Type I individuals may sometimes focus more on relationships and ideas than on details. They like to start new tasks but don't enjoy finishing what they started. They have relatively little patience and a short attention span. The same applies to focusing on details. Of course, with sufficient adaptation, individuals with style I are capable of performing tasks requiring a high degree of detail, but by nature, they do not focus on details. The overall picture is more important to them.

Too much spontaneity

Their natural openness and energy can lead to making decisions without thorough analysis. They quickly get excited about new ideas and trust people, which can result in them making impulsive decisions with painful consequences. They don't give themselves time to think; they make decisions based on emotions and very quickly. This is the style that makes decisions the fastest of all. Unfortunately, in many cases, this is more of a disadvantage than an advantage.

Need for recognition

Individuals with style I often need positive feedback and appreciation for their work. They like to be the center of attention and are very focused on their own needs. They dislike receiving criticism and may react emotionally when someone points out their flaws. They often have difficulty maintaining long-term and deep relationships because they get bored quickly, and meeting new people often holds more value for them than nurturing existing friendships. They are not very attentive listeners, quickly forget things, and are easily distracted.

How to communicate with someone with an I style

If you're working with someone with Style I, it's worth adapting your communication style to theirs.

Key principles:

Build relationships and a positive atmosphere

Show interest in the conversation

Allow for a free exchange of ideas

Appreciate the commitment and energy

Type I individuals respond best to communication that is full of enthusiasm and openness.

Style in work and business

Individuals with a dominant I style are very well-suited for roles requiring human interaction and creative thinking. Any professions that demand easy adaptation to change and operating in a dynamic environment will bring them the most satisfaction.

Common positions include:

sellers

marketers

Coaches and trainers

Customer Relationship Specialists

Natural energy and the ability to build relationships are of great value to an organization.

How to develop your style

People with style I can develop their competencies by learning to be more organized and focused on details.

Worth working on:

activity planning

finishing started projects

data analysis before making a decision

Thanks to this, Style I can utilize its natural talents even more effectively.

Summary

Style I in the DISC model describes energetic, communicative individuals focused on relationships with others. Due to their openness and enthusiasm, they often inspire others and build a positive atmosphere in teams.

Understanding Style I allows for better collaboration with individuals of this profile and helps leverage their natural abilities in work and business.

Styl I w modelu DISC – cechy, mocne strony i sposób komunikacji Model DISC opisuje cztery podstawowe style zachowań ludzi.
